Detroit City FC Secures Another Road Victory Ahead of Home Opener

Detroit City Football Club (DCFC) continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday, March 15, at Weidner Field. With this win, DCFC remains undefeated on the road as they prepare for their highly anticipated home opener next weekend at Keyworth Stadium.

The match started with an early yellow card for DCFC’s Charlie Polisi in the 10th minute, but both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the first half. However, the second half saw a surge in action. The home side took the lead in the 47th minute when Deshane Beckford assisted Romario Tejada for the opening goal, putting Colorado Springs ahead 1-0.

DCFC responded quickly, equalizing in the 61st minute thanks to Darren Smith’s composed finish. Detroit’s momentum continued, and they sealed the victory in the 82nd minute when Duke Lacroix inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, gifting DCFC the decisive goal.

Substitutions played a key role in the match, with Detroit making several changes in the second half to maintain their intensity. Defender Yazeed Matthews and midfielder Maxi Rodriguez both contributed fresh legs to the squad as they pressed forward for the win.

With this victory, Detroit City FC will now turn their focus to their home opener this Saturday at 4 p.m. at Keyworth Stadium, where they will look to extend their winning streak in front of their passionate supporters. They will be facing Birmingham Legion FC, who currently hold a record of 0-1-1.
